This month we’re going full-on with the festivities and folk tales, as Will & Shonette unearth a long forgotten traditional winter festival to brighten up your dreary January! Think Morris Dancers, Druids, Maypoles, The Wicker Man, Glastonbury, The Winter Solstice…
In addition, we’ll be once again giving out prizes for the best stories, so start thinking of what you’ll share with us. You could read us a short story, play us a nice tune, do some stand up comedy, perform a poem, or just tell us your favourite holiday anecdote. Prizes are in the categories of:
– Folk Tales
– Festivals & Holidays
But you can perform about any topic you like on the night – maybe if it’s good enough you’ll get a prize anyway 😉
Thanks again to Ink Spills Inc for a very very cool poster. See you all on the 14th!
Another full house this month, hooray!
In addition to a fantastic turnout and lovely audience, we also had a bumper edition of stories from old friends and newcomers alike.
Our crowned storytelling king Sven read us the first chapter of his novel after a year of delighting us with his travel anecdotes at every show, we had a wonderful piece about measuring success from Natalie Burns, Shonette told us about a surreal spooky hen do she went on, and we also had some short snippet stories from Amy, Simon and Matt.
Our next show will be in mid January, so look out for more info nearer the time. If you need a storytelling fix before then, here are some other lovely evenings for you to consider:
There are also open mic nights across town throughout the month. If comedy is your thing, why not check out this list of some of the Best Comedy Nights in Bristol?
Finally here are the websites for our storytellers this month:
Thomas David Parker
Short stories and thoughts from the Bristol writer.
L.E. Turner –
Urban fantasy, gothic horror, science fiction, and the odd feminist rant.
David J Rodger
Science Fiction, thrillers, dark fantasy and post-apocalypse tales.
Reviews, short stories and general Bristol musings.
You can also see more of Will’s music and general japery on his YouTube site: www.youtube.com/user/willstheway
Thank you once again – whether you came to tell a story or supported in the audience; you’re all treasures. See you in January, happy festivities!
