19th April – Beginnings & Fresh Starts

Posted on

new start

This time we’re taking inspiration from Easter (alleged) resurrections and spring cleans – it’s time to hear about what’s new and exciting!

We want to hear your tales of trying something new, getting out of your comfort zone, or just starting a new chapter in your life. Or maybe you just want to tell us about the inception of an idea, or a burgeoning relationship.

Bring us your stories, poems, songs, raps, illustrations and interpretive dance – we love storytelling in all its weird and wonderful forms! Or just come to listen and support our brilliant performers.

Let us know you’re coming on the Facebook event, and tell your mates too!

15th February: Bad Romance

Posted on

We’re marking the most romantic time of the year in a way only we know how…with over-familiarity, songs and sweets!

Who was your first crush? Or your first heartbreak? Was it your next door neighbour or a pop star with a dodgy hair do?

We want you to hear your tales of romance gone awry, whether it’s poorly-worded love letters, misjudged advances or simply an unrequited affection. Tell us an anecdote, share a story you’ve written, sing us a song, read us your script or perform a poem – it’s up to you.

You can also just come along to listen – and bring your friends. See you there!

26th October: Good Ideas vs Bad Ideas

Posted on Updated on

“If at first, the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it.” – well, that’s what Albert Einstein said anyway, so we want to hear your tales of good ideas gone awry, or poorly-thought-out plans which led to something glorious.

Maybe you decided to make a life-sized penguin out of papier-mache, or book a last minute ticket to Cambodia – but what happened next?

Bring your short stories, poems, songs and anecdotes to share, or just come to listen. Entry is free, we’ll give out free sweets, and every storyteller gets a free drink – hurrah!

Let us know you’re coming on the Facebook event.

4th May – School & Life Lessons

Posted on Updated on

We’re back on Thursday 4th May, and it’s time to cast your mind back to your school days and tell us about your fondest or cringiest memories.

Who was your favourite teacher? Who stole your lunch money? Who was your biggest crush, and did you ever tell them?

Or what are the biggest lessons you’ve learned since in the University of Life?

Come along and share your tales, or just come to listen and cheer along our storytellers!

Let us know you’re coming on the Facebook event.

See you there!

Entry is free, plus we’ll be giving out sweets, cake & other birthday paraphernalia (feel free to bring us a card or a present…), and all storytellers will get a free drink, how nice is that eh?

3rd March – Life Goals (and Fails)

Posted on Updated on

Join us for our first event of 2016 and tell us about your ambitions, poorly thought out resolutions and general ill-advised attempts at self help or reinvention.

What did you want to be when you grew up? Are you too shallow for a meditation retreat? Too drunk to do Dryanuary? Or maybe you actually realised your dreams and achieved something amazing – we want to hear it all!

As per usual, bring any stories, songs, poems or crude sketches you want to share with us (5min time limit) – the theme is only a suggestion, and if you like you can just come to listen.

Entry is FREE, all storytellers get a FREE DRINK and you all get FREE SWEETIES for being bloody lovely.

Oooh ooh, and if you’re needing a double fix of us in March, come see us for the Bristol Seed Swap at Feed Bristol on Sat 5th March – we’ll be doing our usual mix of storytelling, music & games alongisde some green-fingered folks who will be giving talks, sharing cake and of course swapping seeds.
