Free event Bristol
“If at first, the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it.” – well, that’s what Albert Einstein said anyway, so we want to hear your tales of good ideas gone awry, or poorly-thought-out plans which led to something glorious.
Maybe you decided to make a life-sized penguin out of papier-mache, or book a last minute ticket to Cambodia – but what happened next?
Bring your short stories, poems, songs and anecdotes to share, or just come to listen. Entry is free, we’ll give out free sweets, and every storyteller gets a free drink – hurrah!
Let us know you’re coming on the Facebook event.
Unbelievably, it’s been two years since we first lit up the stage of the very new (so new in fact, that it didn’t even have its license yet) Crofters Rights, and in that time we’ve met lots of people, heard some incredible stories and been treated to an array of weird and wonderful songs from Will.
Join us on the 25th September for an extra special night of storytelling – in addition to all the usual sweets, medals and shenanigans we’ll also have some special prizes, party tat and maybe even cake!
We’re really proud of the fun & supportive community we’ve created in the past 24 months, and it’s been amazing to see so many of you start off as nervous first-timers and then go on to be regular performers across the writing circuit, so hopefully you can make it along to celebrate with us.
Bring your best stories about birthdays, parties and celebrations – or just tell us about your best experiences at Let Me Tell You a Story, Jack! (it can’t just be us getting all nostalgic). As usual all storytellers get a free drink.
Facebook event (if that’s your thing) – www.facebook.com/events/1658212924414079/1668393516729353/
We hope to see you there!

Are you craving some stories of adventure? Some amusing songs about service stations or powerful poems about the meaning of life?
Well, fortunately there’s not long to go until the next storytelling event, so note Wednesday 3rd September in your little Filofaxes and get to The Crofter’s Rights at 7pm to meet some of the nicest and most creative sorts in Bristol and hear them share their various tales.
Feel free to tell us a story yourself – all performers get a free drink!
See you on the 3rd 🙂

One week left until our next storytelling evening on 9th July – have you thought about what you will share with us?
We love stories in all forms, whether it’s your most cringe-worthy dating anecdote, a short story or poem you’ve written, a song for your favourite person or a rap about your cat. Remember that all performers will get a free drink!
To make things even more exciting, we’re having some prizes on the night too! Get your thinking caps on for stories you can enter in the following categories:
– Best Travel Anecdote
– Claim to Fame
– “The First Time I…”
You don’t even have to go on stage – you can write it down and pass it to the hosts on the night and have it read out for you.
There will also be games, free sweets and songs from our wonderful host Will on the night – it’s the best entertainment you’ll find on a Wednesday night, plus it’s free entry!
We’ve all had to endure management speak, training days, team building, office politics and water cooler gossip. Now is your chance to tell us the best and worst of your office experiences, in whatever way you see fit.
Regale us with tales of your worst interview, sing us a song about that ill-fated office romance, or maybe just draw us a really nice pie chart.
However, the theme is NOT COMPULSORY, so feel free to bring along any stories or creative work you want to share, or just come along to be entertained.
Optional dress code: disgruntled office worker.
The next storytelling event has been confirmed for Wednesday 19th February, and we will be bringing a Film Noir theme to The Crofter’s Rights from 7pm!
Expect fedora hats, hip flasks, tiny pistols, braces, cagey detectives and shifty broads – along with some fun games and clever songs from your host.
The theme is not compulsory – feel free to dress up and tell your own crime or detective story, or just entertain us with any other fun anecdotes, songs or poems you want to share.
Tell your friends, prepare your stories and we’ll see you on the 19th!
