Let Me Tell You a Story Jack
We’re changing location for a special one-off event as part of the Bristol Festival of Literature, and this time our theme is The Great Outdoors!
Are you a fond rambler, explorer or adventurer? Tell us of your frolics, whether it be trekking across mountains, or scaling the heights of the nearest NCP car park – we want to hear it all!
What is your most memorable meal? When you cooked for the first time? How you accidentally gave your first love food poisoning? Is it a treasured memory of learning how to bake from your granny, or maybe a meal shared on your travels?
Whether you have a story to share or just want to listen, join us in celebrating our 3rd birthday with songs, sweets, games, and of course, CAKE!
Entry is free, plus we’ll be giving out sweets, cake & other birthday paraphernalia (feel free to bring us a card or a present…), and all storytellers will get a free drink, how nice is that eh?
Here’s the Facebook event, we’ll see you on Thursday 1st September!
Shonette & Will
Join us for our first event of 2016 and tell us about your ambitions, poorly thought out resolutions and general ill-advised attempts at self help or reinvention.
What did you want to be when you grew up? Are you too shallow for a meditation retreat? Too drunk to do Dryanuary? Or maybe you actually realised your dreams and achieved something amazing – we want to hear it all!
As per usual, bring any stories, songs, poems or crude sketches you want to share with us (5min time limit) – the theme is only a suggestion, and if you like you can just come to listen.
Entry is FREE, all storytellers get a FREE DRINK and you all get FREE SWEETIES for being bloody lovely.
Oooh ooh, and if you’re needing a double fix of us in March, come see us for the Bristol Seed Swap at Feed Bristol on Sat 5th March – we’ll be doing our usual mix of storytelling, music & games alongisde some green-fingered folks who will be giving talks, sharing cake and of course swapping seeds.
Shonette & Will x
Unbelievably, it’s been two years since we first lit up the stage of the very new (so new in fact, that it didn’t even have its license yet) Crofters Rights, and in that time we’ve met lots of people, heard some incredible stories and been treated to an array of weird and wonderful songs from Will.
Join us on the 25th September for an extra special night of storytelling – in addition to all the usual sweets, medals and shenanigans we’ll also have some special prizes, party tat and maybe even cake!
We’re really proud of the fun & supportive community we’ve created in the past 24 months, and it’s been amazing to see so many of you start off as nervous first-timers and then go on to be regular performers across the writing circuit, so hopefully you can make it along to celebrate with us.
Bring your best stories about birthdays, parties and celebrations – or just tell us about your best experiences at Let Me Tell You a Story, Jack! (it can’t just be us getting all nostalgic). As usual all storytellers get a free drink.
Facebook event (if that’s your thing) – www.facebook.com/events/1658212924414079/1668393516729353/
We hope to see you there!
Shonette & Will
We’re pleased to confirm our next event on Thursday 16th July at The Crofter’s Rights, and we’re really excited about the theme this time too!
Our theme will be ‘Wanderlust’, so tell us about your best travel adventures or holiday frolics. The theme is optional though so feel free to tell us any story you like – all storytellers get a free drink!
You can also just come along to listen – entry is free and we give out sweets. Can’t say fairer than that!

Here are some images to get your creative juice flowing…
This month we’re going full-on with the festivities and folk tales, as Will & Shonette unearth a long forgotten traditional winter festival to brighten up your dreary January! Think Morris Dancers, Druids, Maypoles, The Wicker Man, Glastonbury, The Winter Solstice…
In addition, we’ll be once again giving out prizes for the best stories, so start thinking of what you’ll share with us. You could read us a short story, play us a nice tune, do some stand up comedy, perform a poem, or just tell us your favourite holiday anecdote. Prizes are in the categories of:
– Folk Tales
– Festivals & Holidays
But you can perform about any topic you like on the night – maybe if it’s good enough you’ll get a prize anyway 😉
Thanks again to Ink Spills Inc for a very very cool poster. See you all on the 14th!
We’ve all had to endure management speak, training days, team building, office politics and water cooler gossip. Now is your chance to tell us the best and worst of your office experiences, in whatever way you see fit.
Regale us with tales of your worst interview, sing us a song about that ill-fated office romance, or maybe just draw us a really nice pie chart.
However, the theme is NOT COMPULSORY, so feel free to bring along any stories or creative work you want to share, or just come along to be entertained.
Optional dress code: disgruntled office worker.
