2nd March – Remembering & Forgetting

storytellers

We’re back! And this time we want to hear about your dearest memories and the things you’d rather forget.

Share a short story or poem, tell us a tale from your personal life, draw us a comic or sing us a song – we welcome storytelling in all its forms – just make sure you stick to the 5 minute time limit!

Some ideas to get you started:

  • What is your first memory?
  • What is your most vivid memory?
  • Which songs remind you a key moment in your life?
  • Is there a person or item you’d forgotten about before rediscovering it?

We’ll also be doing a collection for the charity Mind on the night, so your donations would be much appreciated for this important organisation.

Join the Facebook event here.

As per usual:
*FREE ENTRY*
**FREE SWEETS**
**A FREE DRINK FOR STORYTELLERS***

Friday 25th September – Our 2nd birthday party!

Will in his traditional folk garb

Unbelievably, it’s been two years since we first lit up the stage of the very new (so new in fact, that it didn’t even have its license yet) Crofters Rights, and in that time we’ve met lots of people, heard some incredible stories and been treated to an array of weird and wonderful songs from Will.

Join us on the 25th September for an extra special night of storytelling – in addition to all the usual sweets, medals and shenanigans we’ll also have some special prizes, party tat and maybe even cake!

Pete Sutton reads his chilling story to our extensive audience

We’re really proud of the fun & supportive community we’ve created in the past 24 months, and it’s been amazing to see so many of you start off as nervous first-timers and then go on to be regular performers across the writing circuit, so hopefully you can make it along to celebrate with us.

Bring your best stories about birthdays, parties and celebrations – or just tell us about your best experiences at Let Me Tell You a Story, Jack! (it can’t just be us getting all nostalgic). As usual all storytellers get a free drink.

We hope to see you there!

Let Me Tell You a Story Jack - Storytelling Bristol

Another full house this month, hooray!

In addition to a fantastic turnout and lovely audience, we also had a bumper edition of stories from old friends and newcomers alike.

Our crowned storytelling king Sven read us the first chapter of his novel after a year of delighting us with his travel anecdotes at every show, we had a wonderful piece about measuring success from Natalie Burns, Shonette told us about a surreal spooky hen do she went on, and we also had some short snippet stories from Amy, Simon and Matt.

Our prize winners this month were Thomas David Parker and L.E.Turner, with their respective tales of scary spidery writing god Anansi, and rabid, radioactive badgers.
