26th October: Good Ideas vs Bad Ideas

Posted on Updated on

new_age_romantic_gestures_640_021

“If at first, the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it.” – well, that’s what Albert Einstein said anyway, so we want to hear your tales of good ideas gone awry, or poorly-thought-out plans which led to something glorious.

Maybe you decided to make a life-sized penguin out of papier-mache, or book a last minute ticket to Cambodia – but what happened next?

Bring your short stories, poems, songs and anecdotes to share, or just come to listen. Entry is free, we’ll give out free sweets, and every storyteller gets a free drink – hurrah!

Let us know you’re coming on the Facebook event.

storytellers

We’re back! And this time we want to hear about your dearest memories and the things you’d rather forget.

Share a short story or poem, tell us a tale from your personal life, draw us a comic or sing us a song – we welcome storytelling in all its forms – just make sure you stick to the 5 minute time limit!

Some ideas to get you started:

  • What is your first memory?
  • What is your most vivid memory?
  • Which songs remind you a key moment in your life?
  • Is there a person or item you’d forgotten about before rediscovering it?

We’ll also be doing a collection for the charity Mind on the night, so your donations would be much appreciated for this important organisation.

Join the Facebook event here.

As per usual:

Wednesday 14th January – Folk Tales and Festivals!

Posted on Updated on

This month we’re going full-on with the festivities and folk tales, as Will & Shonette unearth a long forgotten traditional winter festival to brighten up your dreary January! Think Morris Dancers, Druids, Maypoles, The Wicker Man, Glastonbury, The Winter Solstice…

In addition, we’ll be once again giving out prizes for the best stories, so start thinking of what you’ll share with us. You could read us a short story, play us a nice tune, do some stand up comedy, perform a poem, or just tell us your favourite holiday anecdote. Prizes are in the categories of:

– Folk Tales
– Festivals & Holidays

But you can perform about any topic you like on the night – maybe if it’s good enough you’ll get a prize anyway 😉

Thanks again to Ink Spills Inc for a very very cool poster. See you all on the 14th!
